CSS to TailwindCSS Transformer
Loading tool…
Moving a stylesheet to Tailwind means mapping declarations to utility classes, not finding a perfect automatic port. Paste a CSS rule and get a suggested class list you can put on an element. Layout that depends on selectors, media-query logic, or cascading specificity still needs a person.
How to use the CSS to TailwindCSS Transformer
- Paste a rule or a declaration block. A single selector with a handful of properties converts more cleanly than a whole stylesheet.
- Read the utilities. Compare the suggestion with your Tailwind version. Arbitrary values appear when there is no matching scale.
- Rebuild the selector yourself. Hover, focus, and responsive variants are prefixes you add. The original selector is not a component name.
When it helps
- Migrating one component. Convert the box model and typography, then delete the old class once the visual diff is clean.
- Learning the vocabulary. See which utility matches a familiar declaration such as display: flex or gap: 1rem.
Common questions
Will an entire legacy stylesheet convert perfectly?
No. Descendant selectors, !important wars, and animations need a manual pass. Convert small rules.
What if my project uses a custom spacing scale?
The suggestion uses default Tailwind-style utilities. Adjust numbers to match your theme.
Are pseudo-elements handled?
Complex selectors are the weak spot. Recreate ::before and state variants in Tailwind by hand.
Is the CSS uploaded?
No. The transform runs in the browser.
