JSON to Tree View Transformer
Loading tool…
Nested JSON is hard to scan as text once objects sit three or four levels deep. The tree view parses your document and lets you expand only the branches you care about. It is a viewer, not an editor for writing a new schema.
How to use the JSON to Tree View Transformer
- Paste JSON. The document has to be valid JSON. Pretty-print it in the formatter if the parser complains.
- Expand a branch. Open the object or array that holds the field you are chasing instead of scrolling a flat file.
- Copy a subtree. When you have found the node, copy that fragment into the formatter or into a TypeScript conversion.
When it helps
- Unknown API responses. See which keys actually arrived before you write types for a payload you have only seen minified.
- Large fixtures. Collapse sibling arrays so a 10,000-line fixture is navigable during a test failure.
Common questions
Can I edit values in the tree?
Use it to inspect structure. For a text edit, change the JSON and parse again.
What if the file is not one JSON value?
JSON Lines and concatenated objects will not parse. Split them first.
Does it upload the document?
No. The tree is built in the browser.
Why use this instead of the formatter?
Formatting makes text readable. The tree makes nesting readable. Deep payloads are faster to explore collapsed.
