PDF Password Remover
If you already know a PDF’s open password, this tool removes that password so other apps can open the file without asking again. It does not recover a password you have forgotten and it does not bypass a document you are not allowed to unlock. The file is sent over HTTPS for processing and is not kept as a library of your documents.
How to use the PDF Password Remover
- Choose the locked PDF. Use a file you are allowed to unlock. There is a size cap so a huge upload does not hang the request.
- Enter the current password. This is the password that already opens the file. Guessing and cracking are not part of the tool.
- Download the unlocked copy. Open the download locally to confirm it is the same document, then store it somewhere appropriate. The unlocked file is easier to forward, so treat it carefully.
When it helps
- A statement you need in another tool. Some splitters and upload forms cannot prompt for a password. Unlock a copy, then split or extract.
- Archiving your own paperwork. Remove a password you set yourself so a future export is not stuck behind a phrase you might lose.
Common questions
Can it unlock a PDF when I do not know the password?
No. You must supply the password that already opens the file.
Does the file stay in the browser?
No. Unlike the PDF splitter, this tool sends the file to Toolzy over HTTPS to remove the password. Do not use it on documents you cannot send.
Is the unlocked PDF stored?
The service is built to process the file in transit and not retain it. Download your copy and do not rely on this page as storage.
Will permissions passwords and open passwords both work?
You need the password that lets you open the content. An owner password you do not know is not something this page will break.
What should I do after unlocking?
Check the page count and a couple of pages, then avoid emailing the unlocked file more widely than the locked one.
